› The Shaver’s Pride chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 11 a.m. EDT on Saturday, September 1, 2018 in the chapter hall in Valley. All members please be present.

› The 26th Annual River View School Reunion will be held on Saturday, September 15th starting at 10 a.m. EST at the River View School. Lunch will be at 1 p.m. Charles Story will be singing.

› The Chambers County School District is currently seeking to locate, identify, and evaluate children with disabilities from birth to age 21. Eligible participants for special services may include those with hearing, visual, orthopedic, speech and language impairments, as well as children with intel-lectual, emotional, or learning disabilities and other health impairments. › LifeSouth Community Blood Centers, Inc., Opelika, will be having a blood drive at Bradshaw-Chambers County Library from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. EDT on Thursday, August 29th and at the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office in LaFayette from 12:30 to 4:30  p.m. CDT on the same day.

› A meeting of the Chambers County Recreational Board of Directors will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at 6:30 P.M. Eastern Time (5:30 P.M. Central Time).   The meeting is the rescheduled meeting previously calendared for August 2, 2018.  The meeting will be held in the Chambers County Cattlemen’s Association Building at the Chambers County Agricultural Park in LaFayette, Alabama.

› A monthly dementia support group meets at 6:30 p.m. EDT on the first Tuesday of the month at the Chattahoochee Hospice office, located at 6 Medical Park N0rth in Valley. › The West Point Active Life Center is a recreation center for independent adults who are at least 55 years of age. Lunch is provided five days a week for those who are 60 and older. There’s also activities, games, billiards, quilting, exercise classes, trips and every Wednesday, FREE BINGO at 10:30 a.m. EDT. The Active Life Center serves West Point and the surrounding area.

› The Interfaith Food Closet helps families with emergency food. Located on 20th Avenue behind the Langdale United Methodist Church, it’s open each week day, Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9-11:30 a.m. EDT; Tuesday and Thursday 1-4 p.m. and Wednesday 5:30-6:30 p.m. Each person must have proof of residence and a photo ID. › The Christian Service Center is open from 8 a.m. till noon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. It’s open on Tuesdays by appointment and from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. To apply for assistance, you will need to bring your current electric bill and a photo ID. The Center is currently accepting donations of children’s clothing that’s in good condition.

› Lanett Junior High will hold a PTSO meeting and open house at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13 in the school cafeteria. Parents, guardians and family members are invited to attend. › At 6 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, August 28th the Alabama New South Coalition will be hosting “No Vote, No Voice; Use It or Lose It” at Bradshaw-Chambers County Library. The purpose of the event is to organize and educate people on making their voices heard prior to the November 6 midterm election. Sam Champagne of the Alabama Voting Project will be speaking on how voting rights can be restored for people who were formerly incarcerated.
