AUTAUGAVILLE — Before halftime even started in their fourth game of the season, Lanett was already decimating the winless Autaugaville. With a final score of 48-0, Lanett’s Assistant Coach EJ Webb said the highlight of the game was being able to field every player.

“It was a good, hard-fought game,” he said. “We got a chance to play every kid on the roster. The majority of our starters came out after halftime. We were up with a nice, comfortable lead at the half, 42-0. Everybody had a chance to play.”

Quarterback Kristian Story went 10-for-12 through the air, throwing for a total of 230 yards. His four touchdown passes were received, one each, by Trikweze Bridges and Seidrion Langston and twice by Tifton Dobbs.

“I think our offensive line played a lot better, our defense played a lot better and our secondary played a lot better,” Coach Webb said. “If we just keep getting better each day we are going to be fine.”

The team rushed for 23 plays, totaling 337 yards for two touchdowns, one from Story and the other coming from number 10 running back Todricus Askew.

“We didn’t beat ourselves, we were more disciplined today,” Webb said. “Now we have to have some carry over for next week, the next week after that and for the rest of the year.”

The assistant coach continued by commending Autaugaville on offering Lanett a hard fight.

“Autaugaville played hard,” he said. “We have been in their situation before and we know it’s hard to play with 19 kids but they played with a lot of guts, a lot of heart tonight. I tip my hat to them.”

Webb said that he is happy with the team overall, after Friday night’s game, but that the focus will go right back into training for next weeks’ away matchup with Notasulga.

“We can always work on everything,” he said. “It’s never a perfect game, we’ve never played a perfect game, but we get better each week. I think we will take this win here and get better for Notasulga. Lanett needs to get better for Lanett. We’ve just got to go back and scout Notasulga and what they do. We will start doing that on Sunday. Only one team can beat Lanett and that’s Lanett.”
