DID YOU KNOW: Oct. 1 to Oct. 7 is National Mental Illness Awareness Week.  According to statistics (mentalhealth.gov), suicide accounts for twenty-four percent of all deaths among 15 to 24-year-olds and sixteen percent among 25 to 44-year-olds.

One in twenty-five Americans lives with a serious mental illness, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, PTSD, or borderline personality disorder.

In 2014, about: One in five American adults experienced a mental health issue. Folks, pay attention, mental illness is serious.  Contact your local mental health provider for more information.

Have you ordered your pink paraphernalia for next month? October is also National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  While wearing your pink, Team WHIP encourages you to check with your local healthcare provider for FREE mammograms. Remember your self-checks, exercise daily and watch your diet. 

Also, Team W.H.I.P (Working to Help those In Pink) is inviting all cancer survivors out to their Annual Walk, Sunday, October 28, 2018.  The walk will begin at John D. Hoggs Pavilion (next to Givorns) in West Point at 2 pm.  It is opened to all cancers survivors.

THERE WAS a time of remembrance and love and joy, Sunday, Sept. 16, at St. Stephens CME Church’s  Annual Stewardess Day was celebrated. Guest Pastor and Church: Rev. Gloria Haynes and Player’s Chapel CME Church, Anniston, AL.

The Program was greatly celebrated and St. Stephens thanks all who came and joined the celebration.
