COLUMBUS, Ohio — Mrs. Carrie B. Wilson, 82, of Columbus, Ohio and formerly of Lanett, Ala. passed away on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018 at Grant Hospital, Columbus. Mrs. Wilson was born April 19, 1936 in Chambers County, Ala.
“Girlfriend”, as she was known by many, received her education in the Lanett Public School System. After high school and college she worked as a substitute teacher for many years. Years afterwards, Carrie relocated to Columbus, Ohio, where she resided for fifty-five years. She was retired from Lucent Technologies with over 35 years of service.
“Girlfriend” was a very loving and caring person. She raised all of her grandchildren and played a major role in all of her sisters’ and brothers’ children’s lives. Her love was unconditional and she was truly one of a kind.
Carrie was the daughter of the late Woody (Sr.) and Carrie Heard Brooks. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, Jessie Wilson; son Michael Wilson; 12 siblings and her brother-in-law, Jack Wilson, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories two devoted daughters, Jennifer (Emanuel) Otchere, Grove City, Ohio and Beverly Coleman, Columbus, Ohio; her dear grandchildren, LaShawnda Wilson, Lakeya Cleveland, Lakisha Jefferson, Larry Wilson, Jevon Wilson, Sr., Keon (Tamara) Sharp and Richard Sharp; her loving great grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Shirley Wilson, and a host nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
A committal service for Mrs. Wilson will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018 at 12 noon EDT in the St. John Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Trammell officiating.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the M.W. Lee Mortuary.
Final Arrangements have been entrusted to M.W. Lee Mortuary of West Point, Ga.
