FIVE POINTS — Mr. John David Paschal, 57, entered into eternal glory on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019.

John was born on June 9, 1961 to John Bernard and Mildred Williams Paschal.

He was a 1979 graduate of Valley High School and also attended Southern Union State Community College.

John was later employed with WestPoint Pepperell for a short time until he took a position working in the dental lab at Drs. Tatum and Tatum in Opelika. In 2009 John began his career with KMMG and was an assistant manager for quality in the painting and welding department.

In Oct. 2000, John met the love of his life when God brought him and Dawn Renee Brandt together.  Even though their courtship lasted over a year, they had actually only spent thirty days in each other’s presence when they finally married on Feb. 9, 2002 in Chickasha, Okla.

In Oct. 2005 they welcomed a precious baby girl in to their lives, Brookelynn Machelle Paschal.

It didn’t take long to figure out the special bond that both John and Brookelynn would share.  Brookelynn was John’s pride and joy. He took on never-ending adventures with her such as riding dirt roads, eating Moon Pies and drinking RCs.  She soon learned several of his talents as well, such as photography and softball.

John is survived by his wife, Dawn Renee Paschal, and his daughter, Brookelynn Machelle Paschal, both of Five Points; his father, John Bernard Paschal of Valley; his two sisters, Juanita Paschal Leak of Carrollton, Ga. and Janice Paschal Fields; brother-in-law Tommy Fields of Valley, and in laws Ronald and Linda Brandt of Louisville, Tenn. He also has many other family members including nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, brothers and sisters-in-law, all of whom John dearly loved.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Williams Paschal; his brother-in-law, Douglas Paul Leak; his “adopted father,” Joe Owen Kennedy; as well as two other children he never held until now.

John will be remembered as a kind-hearted, humble, gentle, hard-working man who tried daily to be an example of Christ’s love. He was a devoted husband and father and a friend to all he met. He loved God with all his heart, and he was a man of integrity.

John smiles even now, for it’s not goodbye to those he left behind, but rather, “See you later.”

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019 at 3 p.m. EST at the Friendship Christian Church in Valley. The Ministers Buddy Harris and Kevin Bauer will officiate. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. EST at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Brookelynn Paschal Scholarship Fund at the Chattahoochee Federal Credit Union in Valley.
