BEULAH — The Beulah boys basketball team got back to its winning ways on Saturday in a 74-57 home victory against B.B. Comer.
The win pushed the Bobcats to a 3-3 record in area play and a 6-14 overall record.
Although the Bobcats finished area play for the regular season near the bottom of the 3A Area 7 standings, Beulah has defeated each Randolph County and B.B. Comer at least once. The Bobcats lost to first-place Dadeville twice.
The effort on Saturday was led by the senior guard trio of Tykerious Williams, Qatavious Seroyer and Lonzie Portis. The three seniors shot lights out from beyond the arc for Beulah, which gave the Bobcats an early lead in the first half.
The game remained within reach for the first three-and-a-half quarters as both teams made errors.
There were multiple fouls called at the rim on both teams.
On the offensive side of the ball, Beulah teammates couldn’t anticipate one another’s spots on the floor, which led to a few possessions ending in the ball sailing out of bounds.
B.B Comer committed a handful of turnovers midway through the second half, and Beulah took advantage for many fast-break opportunities. The Tigers also missed free throws and lost the battle of the boards against the Bobcats down low, opening up the chance for Beulah to score on second-chance opportunities.
Beulah broke free from B.B. Comer and pushed the lead to double digits at the beginning of the fourth quarter as the team’s shots began to fall consistently again.
As the Bobcat faithful began to get behind the home team on senior night, the Bobcats’ confidence grew and there was no hesitation on the defensive or offensive side.
Beulah finishes the regular season on Thursday at Elmore County before entering the postseason.
